I still remember after committing to regularly attending a church, I was invited to attend a Ministry Fair. At the fair, I agreed to serve on the Tech Team at my church. Shortly thereafter, I was trained in running the soundboard and other areas of the Tech Arts ministry.
The Ministry Fair was conducted outside the space our church rented immediately following the last service of the day. There were tables set up with handouts, looping videos, and other similar things related to all of the different ministries of the church. It reminded me of the many trade shows I attended as an executive leader in a manufacturing company.
I filled out an "interest card" and was contacted that week to ask questions and learn more about serving as a member of the Arts Team. I've been serving in some capacity since then.
